Something Interesting about the duck: He was one of my escapees that stayed on my pond. We got 10" hard rain in 3 hrs and my duck pen flooded waist deep from the pond backing up. All the day old ducklings(16) were floated above the 1/4" mesh and escaped out of the pen into the open pond. DH & I spent 3 hrs. trying to retrieve them all. We couldn't catch 3 of them. He raised all 3 of them and protected them from the other males they came and went from the pond. They all left and never returned but still he stayed. I was able to capture him and put him back in the new Aviary up by the house this year. He kept coming up to the house after I relocated all the ducks to the new Aviary

Something Interesting about the duck: he is very aggressive during breeding season. His mates name is PIA(you know what that means) she is almost as bad as him in breeding season. The males bill turn dark pinkish red and gets a knob in it during breeding season. They do not lose their colorful plumage as some species of duck do.
