I’m a college student and live in my own house, I’ve raised chickens before but wanted to switch it up. I have 2 ducks that are currently in a brooder. Im wanting to build my own coop for the 2 ducks but I’m trying to figure out how big I need to make it. My goal is to make it big enough that if needed the ducks will be ok staying in the coop for over a day if im not able to let them roam the yard. How much room do ducks need? I want to have a smaller room where they can sleep and lay eggs that’s protected from the elements and then a bigger “common area” where their food and water would be and they can also walk around and get sun on a daily basis. My worry is that I might not be able to let them out into the yard every day. Any advice will help!! Pics as well!

Do you own your house?
I do not own it I rent it, but I’ve talked to my landlord and he is ok with it as long as the coop is elevated off of the ground so that there is not a big dead spot in the grass. I was thinking of just making a big rectangular coop that is about a foot off the ground, and it will be divided into 1/4 being a enclosed nesting area protected from the elements and the rest being a fenced in area where they can move freely to feed and get sunlight and a breeze

Ducks arent as hard on grass as chicken but they're going to kill your grass.
