It is looking good. It looks nice and big. You may want to add some shade -low bushes or a tarp or something. Mine love to nap under shrubs and it gives them some protection from hawks (I hope). Are you going to lock them in the doghouse at night? If not, they could be vulnerable to preditors unless you cover the whole pen.

I have a electric fence run along the top and along the bottom for predators that would climb the fence or try to slide under it. It is a DIY type electric fence that i got the idea for from my dad. It only uses electricity when it is activated and you can adjust the intensity by the wattage light bulb you install. I also do lock them up at night when I am home to do so. I also plan on building a larger shop type coop to the left of the pen and attaching it to the pen for them ( since my flock is expanding). Thank you for the idea of planting some shade for them. I will look into a good shade bush for them as soon as I can.

This is my pen , it's come on a long way since this . Duck house is surrounded by straw bales and lots of straw on the ground . The tarp has been worth its weight in gold over the Winter with the torrential rain , cold and snow we've had !

How many ducks are you trying to house? We have a 7x7 rubbermaid shed that we use. We lock them up at night to keep them safe from predators.

Sounds like you have it covered! :)

this is my second attempt at ducks. I bought 6 Pekin ducks 2 years ago and lost them to predators due to poor planning and time restraints do to working offshore. I took what I learned from that experience and put it into this pen. Which is why I have the very strong electric fence along the top and bottom and poultry wire along the bottom of my pen.
