I have a 10 week old male Pekin who had developed a cough over the past 2-3 days. He only coughed a couple times yesterday but has started coughing more frequently today. He’s eating and drinking and pooping like he usually does and is acting like his normal self besides the cough. He also does a head shiver when he’s excited and seems to maybe be doing that now outside of the excitement, but it comes in little spurts and isn’t constant. He is currently going through a molt and seems like his voice has been changing over the past week.
Not quite sure if I can give him something OTC or if I need to take him in to a vet. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Could you post a video of his cough?
Are you noticing any other respiratory-related symptoms?
Does the coughing occur mainly while he's eating, or at a specific time of the day?
Are there any pollutants in his environment such as dust, feed dust, mold, or ammonia that you know of?

I’ll try to get a video of it. He seems to be coughing less today.
I’m not noticing any other respiratory-related symptoms. The coughing seems to happen more when he’s waking up but has happened after he’s been awake for a bit and has taken drinks of his water. I was thinking at first that maybe his throat was dry but I’m not so sure.
No pollutants that I’m aware of. The only new thing is the cottonwood fluff that has been falling the past week.

My drake shakes his head. Its a weird drake thing? Maybe not sure what yours is doing exactly but sounds like what my boy does.
I had a hen that developed a cough and it ended up being a fungal infection (i didnt take her in until i heard audible weezing and then i payed close to 1,000$ on vet bills for her). The medications wasn't too expensive and i was able to give it to her easily enough. Though idk if a drake would give more issues (my drake is a mean SOB) maybe sending an email or phone call to an avian vet would be helpful
