Duck coughing

There bedding is large shavings and cleaned once a week. I feed the laying pellets. I really thinks a virus of some sort because 2 od my 4 ducklings are coughing now and they have the same routin as far as cleaning I'm switching to the Tylan and hopefully a video soon thanx again
Lets hope after having them on Tylan for a couple days you'll begin to noticed improvements. But remember to give the Tylan the full time it says to.

Well I went to tsc and they only had the injectable and I'm jot comfortable doing that so Iv ordered it and hopefully will be here in a couple of days
That's too bad but hopefully it will come in a few days, In the mean time add some ACV to their drinking water it has some antibacterial proprieties to it and is also a good tonic for our flocks and us. 1-2 Tab to 1 gallon of drinking water.

Hello, I came across your thread. I too have had a duck coughing for a couple months now.She is on doxycycline. Her coughing gets worse when excited. Did you ever find out whats going on? I am still stumped!

Just remember if you bring her in she will get acclimated to your homes heat and taking her back outside will be hard on her. It will have to be done slowly to get her back use to the cold weather again.

Shoukd i just keep her outside then even with this bronchitis sounding cough?
It's recc. when you have to bring an outside bird inside for rehab or being sick to put them in the coolest room in the house. That way when time to go back outside they have a better time acclimating. If she was real sick then you'd want to keep her on the warm side but not too warm. I am treating a hen for crop impaction, she is in a stall in my duck house with a heat lamp over her which is keeping it around 60* in there she has lost alot of weight so she needs a little warmth while she is healing. The problem is getting them use to heat then they have a hard time getting use to outside temps again. If you feel having her inside would help her then by all means bring her in, Just beware you'll have to gradually get her use to the out door temps again when she is ready to go back outside.
