Duck died

I need some help here. My rouen Moonlight, died in her pen 3 weeks ago. My buff is devastaded. She quacks very loud, doesn't eat. But I want to know how she died, she was lying face down, and laid quite a lot of eggs. She started outstrechting her neck the night before, and started laying on her nest a bit more. Any help on how she might have died?

Maybe a sickness? What really matters though is finding your remaining duck a friend ASAP. Ducks are very social animals and need company, she sounds depressed.. I'd try looking on craigslist for any ducks for sale or ask locally if you or any of your friends have ducks.

Anyone with guesses would be stabbing in the dark. It could be virtually anything.
In case it happens again, send the bird to your state poultry lab for necropsy and lab work so there is no guessing.

Sorry that happened. Could be many causes. Possibly egg bound?
