Duck Dilemma

Thank you both very much for the input! I'll post again with how things turn out.

Is she making a wheezy sound when breathing or is she making a quiet raspy quack sound when talking?
If that is her voice she may be a he. Boys don't quack, they rasp.
There are some YouTube videos showing the difference in sound. You should be able to find them if you search.

Well for the time being at least she (or he) is going to live in someone's yard near the pond she was found in. She has heated shelter and other birds can fly in if they want to keep her company. Hopefully she'll be alright!

I still can't tell after listening to various sounds if the duck was male or female. I will say that she (he?) sometimes made a sort of cooing sound in addition to the wheezy noise.

Thanks again for all the input.

Muscovies don't quack or rasp so that could be part of what is going on. If she/he is part Muscovy then the sounds would be off from a mallard derivative duck like given in the link. Glad you found something that will work. Does the other person have ducks as well?
