Duck disappeared mid afternoon

One of the male ducks we inherited with our new house disappeared yesterday afternoon. The two boys were inseparable and never were more than a few feet from shore. I found a few feathers today floating with some down. Other than that no clues.
I hate they had no duck enclosure for themor house. Boys are skittish, I have zero chance of catching the one left.
what kind of animal should I be on the lookout for???

Fox, coyote, bobcat - a fairly large snatch and run predator.

A dog could, but generally dogs make a mess playing with their kill and leave feathers all over the place, and rarely stop at killing one bird.

Unfortunately the predator will probably return.

I do know this. Trying to find the trail camera. No idea where it is since move.
I have 4 ducklings in the garage right now. They are being socialized so I can help protect them and will have a house and now I’m thinking run too!
I wish I could catch the poor line boy. Very unlikely. He will get about 4 feet from me and that’s it. That’s when he is hungry. He’s sad without his good mate.

No clue. Maybe in bushes. Honestly I think they sleep a lot in the daytime. That’s probably when the one was caught. They sleep right at shore.

Unlikely it was dog. I haven’t seen any and we were home during this.
