I just picked up my 6 week old duckling and he furiously shook his head and caused tons of what seemed like slimy saliva all over the place. Yes it was slimy because it got all over me... I gave him some water. He’s not acting sick or anything but I didn’t think ducks drooled??? Should I be worried?

When chickens/chicks or ducks/duckling drink, and you pick them up or they shake their heads, it's just the water coming back out. It's normal if that's what is going on.

Next time they drink, pick them them up, they will most likely do the same thing again. Nothing to worry about if that's the case.

It will be water, mixed with spit. Kinda stringy.

“Arizona is native to nearly 200 species of snails and slugs!”

You may not see them often but they could very well be the culprit to the slobber if Sunni had been foraging.

I was wondering the same thing. It sure seemed like a lot of drool to me. I was wondering if I should be worried--they all seemed fine otherwise.
