I have a small flock of anconas that all lay off-white eggs. If I hatch out more from this group what are the odds that I will get some that lay green/blue eggs? I've read that the colored eggs are dominant to the cream eggs. Does that mean that I won't get any colored eggs from a non-colored egg layer unless the gene comes from the drake?

I did a quick search on google. Looks like the shell color works the same way as chickens. So yep. You'll only get other colors if your male has those genes, and passes them on.

The cream is dominant in anconas.
So if you don't have a male or females that carry the green egg gene, you will not get green eggs from your birds.

You need to introduce the green egg gene into your flock

By dominant do you mean more common, or dominant as in the green egg gene is recessive? I've read in multiple places that the green gene is dominant to the white. Is the cream color a different gene?

If I wanted to introduce the green gene to the flock and I don't care about maintaining the breed purity, am I correct to think that the best bet would be mixing in runner ducks?
