Hi, I’m just looking for an opinion on this egg. I don’t exactly know what day it is but a few weeks ago it seemed alive. My chickens have been sitting on it. I did see some veins around the ring 2 days ago, not a blood ring but should I be seeing movement or more to it? Sorry bad quality photos, I took screenshots from a video I took.

I can’t tell from the pictures. It looks like the aircell is dipping down which could mean it’s close to hatching. If it’s close, I often don’t see veins but you may see movement at the edges of the aircell

Thank you! I have candled today and it looks like an internal pip as I can now see movement. I see a slight crack in the shell as well so hopefully tomorrow I’ll have a little one 😁

Yay!! I hope you have a healthy little duckling soon
I have a duckling! but the issue I’m now facing is the chicken pecking it. It was chaotic this morning because there were multiple chickens in the egg box so I removed all but one but I did also see the ‘mother hen’ peck it so I put it back under her after removing all the others. Do you know if and when I can remove a duckling? I do have crates but my concern is warmth. It hatched yesterday and is definitely moving today. I wouldn’t want it to come out and then again be pecked at.

Edit: all seems ok since separating the other chickens. I’ve been working and came back to check and it’s nuzzled under the ‘mother’ so hopefully when it starts moving about more that it will be bonded as much as it can be for a duck and chicken, I’ll be able to keep tabs on the progress tomorrow as I’m not working

I thought they wouldn’t be able to communicate well but actually I’ve seen the chicken eating and making noise so the duckling would come over and eat as well. It’s amazing how the duo works as I’ve never had this happen before
