Duck egg the size of a chicken egg! Could it hatch?!

I have a pretty small duck egg. It’s about the size of a chicken egg. I candled it today and it has some veining and I can see the beating of a tiny heart. Will this duckling just be very small or will it more than likely quit on me? Also my egg that I fixed with glitter finger nail polish has some veins so glitter duck may just make it. The tiny duck egg is much smaller than the other eggs that I bought. They are Ancona ducks.

I'm not to experienced on this, but if the egg is smaller than the others I think the duckling might have future problems and maybe be a special needs duck. Is there any chance you got a chicken egg instead of a duck egg?

I don’t believe so.She had all her ducks in a breeder run and went and grabbed six eggs from some boxes where these ducks were at. She told me that it might not have a yolk. I only paid for 5 but she gave me this extra tiny duck egg as an extra.

The duckling will be smaller at first but they usually catch up fine. Sometimes they can be slightly less healthy but I personally have never had an issue. Best of luck!

its on day 5. I have Some Saxony ducks on day 25 so when I was candling them getting ready to move them to my hatching incubator. I went ahead and checked these out.I was pleasantly surprised 5 out of 6 were already developing.

It has some movement in it today! It’s doing well. Hoping it makes it to hatch!
