hi. I was given 4 duck eggs by a neighbour. (All different breeds)
I have been semi-naturally incubating them under one of my broody hens and the first duckling hatched perfectly 2 days ago.
Unfortunately the hen does not like this duckling one bit and luckily I caught the duckling in time before any harm was caused.
The second duckling pipped this morning and it appears to have hatched slightly early, but I have little experience with hatching ducks so I’m not entirely sure? The duck has been hatched for around 1 hour. It is currretly breathing absolutely fine. It’s eyes have not opened up yet either. He/she has kicked their feet a few times.
The trouble I am referring too is the umbilical chord/stomach that is protruding outside and still attached to the membrane/egg somehow.
Could someone with experience have a look at the picture provided as I am so worried about this little guy!!!
