My pekin started laying last week. We picked up her 3rd egg this morning. Will the eggs get bigger? I thought they were bigger than a chicken egg? I've had chickens eggs bigger than these 3.

I suspect they will get bigger with age/maturity...

NONE of my chickens start laying eggs at their eventual full size. They ALWAYS start out pullet sized and get bigger over then next several months. Also, depends what chicken breed you are comparing to what duck breed. Some ducks lay on the smaller side (of huge) while some chickens will lay on the jumbo side.

I've had some barred Plymouth rock eggs that were bigger. We are actually thinking that she is way early or the age we thought she was is off by 5 weeks. We bought pekins and were told they were 2 mths old at the time. We compared to some pictures of some we had before and figured them to be 1 month not 2. So either we were way off or maybe the 2 we bought we malnourished possibly. Either way we are happy.

My Cayuga (who is smaller) lays larger eggs than my Swedish. My Blue Swedish eggs are for sure smaller than store bought large chicken eggs, but my Cayugas are comparable or bigger. Depends on the breed and chicken egg for sure. Don’t know about age but that would be intriguing.

Yes they will probably get bigger. It just that's she is starting out. My first egg was like a chicken egg, then they got bigger.

I didn't see the egg this morning. My wife told me that it was small again. Everything we read said they were bigger. We'll see, if not then we are good with these.
