Hello,

I would appreciate some help. I have ten duck eggs incubating and three have externally pipped (included picture). This happened at 9pm last nights and not much else has happened since. Will they be okay? Will they be able to breathe? I can’t see their bills. Do you usually?
I would appreciate any help. This is my first time.

Can you feel them moving inside the egg? If so, this is completed normal. Ducks can take up to 48 hours after pipping to hatch while they absorb the yolk. As long a you can feel some movement from time to time or hear peeping, they are fine, and are just getting comfy. You cannot usually see the bill, but yes, they can breathe. If you are worried, you can remove a tiny bit of the shell on the pip to see them move and breathe.

They are wiggling at times so I think they are okay. Fingers crossed! Thank you. I thought for some reason that their bill was supposed to come all the way through.
