I'm sure you've heard about this storm that passed in the south if you live in the USA. Well my duck pen got flooded but the eggs didn't. The problem was that during the heavy rain my female duck was wet from playing in the water and rain and got on her nest to lay eggs. I'm trying to get her to hatch eggs(Welsh Harlequins and I have 8 eggs currently). When I checked the eggs they were wet but not submerged in water. So I got some new shavings and I made her nest dry but i'm afraid the eggs were water damaged. Any tips?

Your duck eggs were not harmed by the hen being wet. It is natural for ducks to swim and return to their nests. Actually, this is good when the duck is brooding as it provides the right humidity that duck eggs require. It would be better not to make the nest dry when the wetness is caused by the hen duck. If the nest were flooded and saturated then you'd need to do as you did.

We had the same problem here in TN. I was out yesterday digging drainage ditches around the turkey enclosure in the heavy rain to keep the turkey nests from flooding. The eggs got wet but not to the point of sitting in a flooded nests. Since the hen hasn't started brooding yet I'm confident that the eggs are still viable.
