What are you hatching?
Why do chicken breeds always sound like cooking ingredients? Ha I’m completely oblivious to chicken lingo and breeds except Rhode Islands because that’s what my cousin has. But call ducks are absolutely adorable. Aren’t they harder to hatch in incubator?2 d’Uccle hatched, 4 bantam cochins, I have 8? Call duck eggs and one cream legbar egg I’m awaiting today!
How are the ducklings today?

Call ducks can be tricky to hatch. It depends. They have very short necks and short bills, so sometimes they have trouble pipping and zipping on their own. I assist probably 99% of mine that make it to internal pip. Many die right before hatching too, and never make it to draw down or internal pip.
I think a lot of it depends on just how short their necks and bills are. Some folks have no trouble. I suspect many of mine might hatch on their own, as my hens have fantastic hatch rates, but I’ve also lost enough of them that I assist when the time comes. I’m patient, but impatient, ya know? Lol
One of my hens last hatch, this past summer.

Thank you very much!Congrats on the great hatch! 6 sweet babies!❤
Have all of the living ones hatched? Have they started eating and walking around yet?Thank you very much!
haha! Those were more joke nick names. I’ll name them by when they hatched; mo, Larry, biscuit, kurly, ester, and haven’t named C yet. Anyone have any ideas? I say C because we based their names off the letter that was on their shell lol. We already planned on naming Egg K- Kurly and that’s who I’ve referred to as bent neck haha. But anyway Kurlys neck hasn’t gotten any straighter. He’s moving okay but idk if this bent neck will cause problems in the future. I’m not give up any hope with him but it may effect swimming, flying etc. They look great and love the namesI’m guessing the one on the far right is Mr. Bent Neck by the angle his head is at to his body. Do you think it’s straightened out any at all?
All of the living ones have hatched. Unfortunately the 2 that never pipped externally didn’t make itHave all of the living ones hatched? Have they started eating and walking around yet?
