Duck eggs with no air cell

I am just about to put chicken eggs in with a turner, are you saying hand turning is better, what about opening and closing the incubator with hand turn?

Maybe I could do both. Let the machine do it mostly (4 times a day) then hand turn once a day?

Okay I if you are doing chickens a turner is fine. Ducks on the other hand need to be fully rotated. Opening the incubator will be just fine! As long as you don’t let it open for like an hour. It’s only when you are in lockdown you should be worried about opening it too much. And once you get to day 10 (for ducks) I took all my duck eggs out of the incubator laid them on a towel and sprayed them with warm water. Then I wiped them down let them rest out of the incubator for 5-10 minutes and then popped them back in. All my eggs developed. I had no duds. So don’t be too worried about opening the incubator when your turning them.
So chicken eggs you can just leave with a turner and then do the other necessary steps to hatch those out but hand turning duck eggs 3-5 times a day has always worked for me. I usually turn them at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bed time.

I have a picture of one of my eggs but 4 out of the 6 look like this, does it look normal because there are no air sacs ?

Huh..that is really weird...I’ve never seen anything like that. Well I guess I would just keep them going and see if the air sac grows or develops..? Then I would check a duck eggs that isn’t getting hatched like in your fridge and candle that. See if their is an air sac cuz if there is not a air sac in the egg from your fridge than it’s probably your ducks messing up but if there is an air sac in the eggs from your fridge than it’s something that went wrong in the incubator. I’d be prepared to assist when they hatch. Especially if the air sac doesn’t start to show by hatch day. The second picture (the one with the air sac) that looks like it has 2 air sacs... one on top and bottom. Is their 2 ducklings in their? Can you tell? That’s really weird tho! And another thing I noticed the duckling growing without the air sac is growing really close to the top. All of mine grew towards the middle or bottom so I’m not sure if that plays a factor in the air sac function. Maybe someone else would know more..
but yeah I would check the fridge eggs and see if they have a air sac. But something weird is going on there
