Duck eggs

Our duck was sitting on eggs and gave up on them a little over a week ago but wouldn't let us in the duck house to remove them so we let them be, one hatched at some point today because we found a dead ducking in the run. What do I do with the rest of the eggs? Will they hatch even though she hasn't been sitting on them?

I would try to listen for a clicking sound coming from the egg, that would be a heartbeat. Maybe your duck broke one of the eggs because the hatchling was not alive in that egg?

I just spent a long month with a duck that started with 11 eggs, and four hatched. But there have been instances where she ate an egg, and I also found a dead duckling a few days before they hatched. I am relieved that just now there are four babies. The only difference is she never abandoned them, just the opposite I rarely saw her leave her eggs. I can't explain why your duck gave up on them, but I would say it's intentional.

You must have some good ears to hear a heartbeat!
The clicking sound is the egg tooth on the end of the bill/beak, trying to crack through the egg.

The hen can tell if the eggs are good or not, if she's stopped setting the eggs probably aren't good, sorry.
