Is it correct that ducks cannot have medicated chick starter? They can have any other chicken feed though? Can chickens eat duck food? Im going to the feed store later today and would prefer to buy one new food for everybody. The ducks can just eat seperately if need be.

Correct, it is generally accepted that ducklings should not get medicated food.

My adult ducks and chickens get the same yard waste, table scraps and chicken layer food.

You can get 'all flock' or whatever the generic 'all flock' is (game bird starter is too high in protein for ducks), they usually have a picture of a duck, a chicken and a turkey or quail on them.

The warnings of not using medicated feeds with ducklings is very OLD, the new feed formulas for chick starters pose no known threat (even the medicated variety) to waterfowl. There have been formulation changes making the old warning of no medicated feeds not necessary.

Many feed an all flock variety of food for their chickens and ducks as well. If you can find Mazuri waterfowl feed it is spacific for ducks/geese and they make a starter.

so can we mix the old medicated chick feed with layer feed so the medicated is less prominant? Ducks are about 13 weeks

there was only layer feed chick starter and game bird at the store so we got layer and will be mixing them. also bought grit :)
