So...its interesting to think about the genetics in ducks.

I'm aware of 'THEORY' such as Mendelian Genetics. But sometimes applied theory and practicality are different. And it brings up a lot of exciting questions. (And if some types of animals don't have exceptions to the theoretical rules?)

I'm curious if you think with ducks the ducklings traits, tend to follow the father or mother more?

This is particular interesting in regards to trying to get certain colors in the ducklings, such as full black coats or white coats etc.

Is it possible to transfer the white color Pekings into runners without losing the runners majority traits for example? (White runners) In Britain they have a lot of white runners, but there are problems with sending them to the US etc, particularly with Covid-19.) It would also be interesting to try to do black runners.

But its not just about runners, but any interesting trait.

Like how someone came up with Khaki Campbells as an original breed must have had something to do originally with that person having a grasp of how to get the best traits. Else, why else does this breed have so many top quality traits?

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Yes. You would just have to cross back to runners again and again and again until you have the Runner type along with the color you want. That's how you add a color to any breed.

See my guys half fawn and white runner and half pekin.
