Last night when I got home around 9 o'clock, I went to go shut the coop door, as my chickens and ducks free range. When I walked back there, I saw that my four ducks were outside of the coop probably 50 feet away! They usually go in right at sunset with the chickens, so I sort of knew something was up. I lured them in the coop. This morning when I opened the coop to let them out, my chickens came out first, as always, and then the ducks. I saw that one of my Magpies, Max, had been attacked. Drooping her wing and still walking around like nothing was wrong. I guess that's a good thing. I picked her up and it is a huge wound, and her wing bone was exposed. I called the local exotic animal vet and told them the situation, and they told me that if the wound was already hardened, no matter how deep it was, there was no reason to take her in. So, my poor baby, Max, is in the "hospital hutch" making a recovery. Fingers crossed, will have updates on her recovery.

Make sure wounds are cleaned several times a day, watch for infection. Hope she makes a full recovery.
