Duck growers please help.

Tap water... from a well or municipal? If it's municipal, they sometimes mess up with the chemicals that they add. Plus, there has been a lot in the news lately about various drugs (antibiotics and others) showing up in drinking water supplies. If that is your water source, maybe contact them and ask for a recent report on the water quality? Though they don't always test for the various medications. I really hope the rest are doing good!

Indeed - things go wrong sometimes. Alamosa Colroado just had an outbreak and they had to boil water.

If you have a well - might want to splurge on a new test as well, make sure to tell them what is going on and see if they have any suggestions. You might even call the local health department and see if anyone else is having this problem.

This may not be helpful but my experience recently was this...I ordered 4 ducks from a hatchery they hatched on last Wednesday and didn't make it here until last Sat morning. Never having raised ducks before I gave them and the chicks sugar water. Two of the ducks drank themselves to death. They were happy and running around playing in the water and drinking a lot then they slowed down went to sleep, breathing heavy and then died. I found out later you have to give them the water then take it away over and over until they have adjusted. The two that didn't die have adjusted and are doing very well and have a constant supply of fresh well water.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. Hope you can figure out what happened.
