I have just got 2 Indian runner ducks. They looked fine but on closer inspection they have dry feathers on their wings. I have checked for parasites and can not find anything. Their skin doesn't look irritated just dry. Any idea of what it could be ?

My duckling sometimes got that.
Give a good place to bathe and they should be okay.
Sometimes dirt & the elements can matt feathers up.
They should be fine!
;)

I cannot tell much from the pics but i would agree with bathing. If waterfowl don't get access to often enough, they will get a build up of stuff over time.

Doesn't need to be complex, a simple kiddy pool or even a kids sandbox bottom will do.

Can any one tell me why my hen's feathers look so mangled and torn up?

As far as her diet goes: 90% layer pellets and 10% grower/finisher. I've been putting poultry vitamins drops in her water. This seems to have made her more energetic, but her feathers look so pitiful.

She lays an egg everyday
No signs of mites
swims in the lake daily

Can I put some coconut oil on her feathers to help her out?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Her feathers are getting worn, it is about time to molt. Put coconut oil on her feathers and she will probably get waterlogged and drown. Clint
