Hey there! I'm looking for a duck hatchery that is near Naperville Illinois that carries flying mallard ducks. Sadly, the hatchery I previously used, "Bear's Birds", is shutting it's doors this year and I will obviously not be able to get my day old mallard ducklings from there. It was about a 40 minute drive which was awesome. But now I'm in desperate need to find a hatchery that isn't far away. I have tried ordering ducklings through the mail, but after 2 unsuccessful tries, and 4 dead helpless ducklings, I will never be trying that again, so that is out of the picture. Let me know if you know of any hatcherys that are reliable, or that you visit. Thanks!

Also, I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot, but nothing else fit the description. I'm not looking for chicks, just ducklings

Try Tractor Supply..they're winding down on chic season, but they sometimes have mallards mixed in with the pekin ducks. I've had very good luck with the shipped birds..but i usually get them from efowl..not for a while though, i order eggs now, i figure that way i have them right away when they hatch and it saves them the trauma. Hope you find some:)

I would check local feed stores and craigslist. If you end up trying another hatchery and having birds shipped, I have had wonderful (WONDERFUL) experiences with McMurrays. Metzer's is the go to place for many, but I have seen similar quality and lower prices at McMurrays. Good luck!
