Hi everyone. I bought 6 baby ducks about 7 weeks ago and one of the "pekin" (what the guy said it was) is not growing. The others including another pekin is 2 1/2 times bigger. It may be a runner from how he walks but I have another runner same age and he is tiny compared to the runner as well. What could the duck be? Some disease making him smaller? I also feed him seperate sometimes but always make sure he gets plenty of food. Poor little guy

I have hatched Pekins and Runners at the same time-and although there is some size difference- it not as much as what you have found. Just like with other animals- ducks can hatch as a runt of the " litter" as well. Sometimes they will catch up be the same size- and others not. They can also be very slow to develop feathers and molt. Heart defects as well as deficiencies can also cause slow growth amongst other things. Is there any chance it could have been a baby white call duck mixed in with the pekins?
