Okay, that's what I call it, too. I have some lighter stuff, a coated welded wire, covering the Day Pen, with two feet of coated small diameter chicken wire along the lower edge on the sides. For night time, the Veranda is covered with half inch metal hardware cloth to keep things from being able to reach through and grab the ducks.
Not to cause confusion - when some of the runners were apparently not thriving in the cold at night, I moved their night quarters to the walkout basement. We still use the Day Pen and Veranda. I also have welded wire fence around the tea garden and the forest garden, where the ducks go when I am working in that area.
