Duck Houses

Pics
Here are a few views of the house. Some of these pics were taken last year, and I have since put tough livestock wire around the pen. Hope you like them:)

How many ducks do you have and what are the dimensions of the enclosure and the house inside? I love it! So adorable![/QUOTE]

Reading all this is getting me excited. In early May I have 4 ducklings and 3 goslings ordered. Have been thinking about how to build a shelter. I already use electric poultry netting for the chickens so will probably do the same for the ducks and geese. During the day when I'm home they can free range the property if we are fox free this summer. Was fox free this past year until one showed up in October. Hoping the geese will let me know when a fox is around. I grew up a city girl who used a rifle for target shooting only. Wasn't until I moved to Montana and my chickens were threatened that I discovered at age 64 that I can shoot an animal that is harming my pets. I didn't even cry like I would have when I was younger.

ohh be sure to raise them together i wish i had raised my ducklings and goslings together then maybe my geese wouldn't be so hostile to them. Good Luck :)

I do plan on keeping them together. I just don't want to go through the hassle of building them separate shelters and pens. They had better get along together.

Hi,

I'm planning on starting a small flock of ducks (Welsh harlequins, Indian runners, Cayugas) for pets and eggs. I was planning to build an enclosure on a 11 foot by 15 foot area on my patio and let them free range my garden whilst I'm home. How many ducks would I be able to keep in this sort of area?

Ducks like to be near the ground.

We actually took an adorable chicken coop design from here and made it identical but made it lower for the ducks and didn't add roosting bars - they don't need them.

Here is another shot...it does have a nesting box, 24 inches wide, twelve inches deep, with a hinged roof for access.

One more - for whatever reason I didn't get a shot of the nesting box but if you like, I can.

Found more. Some of the process. We laid down linoleum and used 1/4" hardware cloth for Windows and ventilation. Also a battery operated led tap light.
