aww poor duckie . i would bring him inside for foot soak in epsom salt water (but do not let him drink any)
then i would spray it with vetericyn spray
then use an antibiotic ointment like neosporin or any triple antibiotic that does Not have pain relief in it
to keep it clean while it heals Id put a guaze pad bandage and use vet wrap around that to keep it on and i use one piece of medical tape around the vet wrap
i would keep him inside to keep it clean for a few days
i think it will heal and the nail fall off but thats ok he can live without a nail
change the bandage daily or at least every other day

I dont think i can get a bandage around his foot. And can i just get the triple antibiotic from a petstore.

Looks like his dew claw
Half my think has lost at least one along the way
Only one boy I had to take in as the bleeding wouldn’t stop
They cauterized it
All the rest all I did was wash off and let it scab over. That back claw isn’t really needed so no worries there
If it’s really muddy out then washing it a few times a day
If it’s not muddy and it’s not dirty then it should be just fine
I didn’t restrict any of my ducks from daily stuff

My girls have done this many times, those nails are really good at getting caught. One time it bled a lot, looked like your picture

I held a paper towel on and it stopped bleeding, then I sprayed it with vetercyn, making sure it was clean. It healed very fast. The nail grew back at a bad angle and so it still gets caught sometimes, I try to keep it short to prevent it happening again.

Neosporin without pain reliever is what you should use. Bad advice from pet store that probably knows nothing about ducks.
This spray that they gave me has alot of warnings on it thats why i didnt use it and she told me its okay for my duck even if he eats it because her horse does that too.

Oh and so Horses and Ducks are sooooo much alike, lol. Some people will say anything to make a sale. Glad you didn't use it and I would return it to her and tell her to read up on Ducks, they can fly and horses can't if she can't tell any other difference, lol.
