can anyone tell me what type of ducks these are? They live in a retention pond at my in-laws in South Carolina. I said wood duck LOL (I know that's not what they are)

Amiga- thanks, I thought they seemed a little runner-ish too. But they are "supposed" to be from a hatchery. Thought they might be Buff Orpingtons??? Thoughts? Also, do you know if the puff on the one will stay poofy?
Yes, they could well be Buffs - funny, I have Buffs! But they have more rounded bills than yours. Nonetheless, since the Buff Orpington breed came about using Runners as well as other breeds http://www.livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/buff then yes, I'd say these look within the range of appearance for Buffs. Thank you so much for the help!Mr. Bean
Miz Hazel Both are Buffs
Maybe buff then if they came from a hatchery. The puff is called a crested and it is a generic mutation. It will say that way and I would not breed that particular duck since crests can have neurological issues that are part of the mutation. If one sounds different than the other I would venture to say you have a male and female. In another few weeks you will know for sure.
