Duck identification!!!

I found this duck a couple months ago that had been mildly injured by my cat . . . and I thought it looked like a Mallard... but then it didn't . . . Is it a mallard or is it a mix? Just something I've been pondering about.

Looks like a Muscovy baby. A mallard's eye stripe goes all the way to the beak.

Then it must be domesticated . . . we don't have any Muscovy's. :| Maybe it was our neighbor's duck . . . although I don't think they have ducks. :| Hm. Confusing.
Here is a picture I found online of a muscovy. That's definitely is.

He's definitely not a mallard. He could be a mix, but looks muscovy to me. I could be wrong, though.

I'm glad to hear that, and I'm not very glad to hear that. The reason that I'm glad is because now I know what breed he is! The reason I am not glad to hear that is because we let him go where we found him, hoping that he would return to his mom . . . I'm just hoping he did!

How long did you have him? most likely he didn't find his mom. But could have joined up with another family of mama and ducklings but lets hope it found it's mom.
