Awesome, it definitely was trying to pip in the wrong end. You probably just saved it.
Go ahead and peel off a tiny piece of the membrane and look for the bill.
I would open the shell and membrane only wide enough that only the tiny bill is visible.

The hole is small so I feel like even if I pee lit back I won’t be able to find much should I do something else?

Can you make the hole a little bit bigger, so the duckling can get air.
