Duck incubation random purple spot on egg!!!!

When should I expect the little guy to hatch? Also when will I know that I need to help him or her out?

I don’t think so but you could be right. I just know that the little guy has been breathing out of the hole I made!

Eggs sometimes get the "bruised" look when pipping has begun. Candle the egg to find the air cell and the safest point to make an air hole where the air cell is. You don't want to hurt the duckling or the membrane covering it. If the duckling hasn't started peeping it is not time to . If the egg has externally pipped I would wait and see. If there's no external pip, I recommend you read up on assisted hatches. What kind of duck egg?

It will be at least one day, maybe 2. Watch for the duckling to be opening and shutting its mouth, like yawning, that means it's absorbing it's yolk sac and needs more time.
You can post tomorrow a picture or video. If you talk to it or play duck videos it encourages it.
