For those that want to put in a ball valve drain. Here are the parts:

3/4" Threated PVC Ball Valve @ $3.17

Two #11 O-Rings (3/4") @ 1.97 for 10 pieces

All pieces are available at Home Depot or other hardware stores. Make sure to cut your hole as tight as possible. Put the Male Adapter with an o-ring inside of the pool, add another o-ring outside and screw on the ball valve. No glue needed. Really simple.

You can also buy a hose adapter, which you can screw into the outer part of the ball valve. This enables you to connect a garden hose to it, so you can have the dirty water discharge anywhere in the garden.

3/4 In. x 3/4 In. MPT x MHT (Male Hose Thread) PVC Hose Thread Adapter @ $0.99

The prices given are from Home Depot. They do not include sales taxes. Take this list with you to the hardware store and have someone help you. Make sure they all screw together before you leave.

Remember to fill up your pool once and then mark the location. The pools have the tendency to pull down a little bit. Do not put it in first and then fill the pool only to find out that you are too low and the valve gets pushed up.

Fantastic set up... I am going to have to try and build a deck or two. How do you cut the Kiddie Pool... it looks like it would crack easily. I was wondering what tool to use.

Thanks! I will try it - I hope our local hardware store has the parts for the drain - if not will pick them up next time I go to the big city.

I've got mine at Home Depot, and they are standard parts. Make sure to fill your pool first, and then mark the location. The pools will press down once filled. So do it first so your valve is not too low and gets bend up. It is so much easier with the ball valve. I can't lift a full pool to empty it. I do can lift it once there is only 3/4 inch of water left in it. It also saves your pool, plus you can reuse the parts, if you need to buy a new pool.

LOL. I can see me telling my husband MAKE. He would look at me and say what?

And how?

Next I hear him say you tell me what to cut and where to hold. He is just not good at the building part.

I leave the grunt work to him, like cutting the lawn and taking care of the trash.

Oh forgot to mention vacuum the floors and do the dishes and laundry.

Yes, my husband does all those things.

I do the cooking and other cleaning jobs, besides all the construction and repairs. He usually moans first and then helps.

Wow those are some fantastic pools/decks for ducks. Good ideas and plans, would like to borrow the ideas for my ducks. Thanks for posting pictures. The pictures are better than words. Your ducks are so lucky.
