When she gets serious she'll make a nest and lay in it then once she gets the number of eggs she is happy with she'll begin to brood. Do they sleep in a secure house? if so make sure she has lots of soft bedding and place some of the eggs she is laying around different places inside and wait. Hopefully she'll take the hint.
You may just have to give her time, when my Runners and Buffs began to lay I think the laying part would hit them when they would be outside and the egg would just fall out where they stood. They learned on their own to lay in their house so hopefully your lil duck will too.
Hi I am so glad to have found this post as I need some help too..my Call duck has started laying and has laid 3 eggs so far. The Male duck has rolled one of the eggs out of the nest. I have put it back in as until I saw him doing it on reviewing cctv footage I thought she had laid it on the floor where I found it. Also my two chickens are housed with them in a 10 x 8 coop. They are nosing in the area the eggs are.. will they all be ok together?? Will I need heat if they do hatch as this would be impossible to do and unsafe..

She has made such an amazing nest!! it just looks so perfect!it seems like she works on it every night, because every morning when I check on it, it has improved! haha! Today when I looked, it seems she has removed the hay from the floor (pushed it to the sides) and actually dug a bit of a hole, and has the hay and leaves woven around!
I noticed she did move two of her eggs to the middle of the nest, unhidden, and the two others are still in the walls of the nest, hidden and buried a little in the dirt.
I've also noticed she is nicer to me now than she has ever been. (besides since when she was a duckling and followed me lol) She would never come up to me she always kept her distance, now she will waddle right up to me to say hello, and if i sit she will jump right on my lap!Shes also quacking a whole lot now, im gussing its something they do at this time? Id imagine the whole laying process has to be uncomfortable, for such a small duck to lay lots of eggs lol.
