duck leg broken

I need help I have a baby peking duck with a broken leg you can feel the break in the leg I have set the break the best I could and made a splint out of thin fiberglass rod from a kite and used medical tape to tape it up I need to knowhow long the healing time is and if this method is sufficient. she is isolated with her own food water and heat lamp.
