Hi all, I need your help. My drake has been limping on the RIGHT foot for two weeks now. Just came back from the vet and had his X-ray taken. Doc said no fracture, but possibly osteoarthritis, as you can see from the picture of his right foot, the two bones are rubbing each other. He’s young, only 3 years old. Doc’s suggested reducing weight and restricting his movement. But my question is will cutting down his diet be enough to improve his limping situation? How can a young duck be getting osteoarthritis? Could it be joint dislocation? With restricted movement, how does he get to lose weight? I want him to be back to his normal self. Healthy naughty self. Please help. What can i do to restore back his health. He brings so much joy to my life.

Mine has been limping twice in his short life of 4 months. I give him and his two brothers collagen powder into his food when that happens and within 3 days he is usually OK again. Could he be lacking Vitamin C? It is a factor in the maintenance and production of collagen in the body, such as in cartilage in the joints.
Don't overdose - and only give it every second day.
My experience with collagen every day is headaches. Don't give anymore or only once a week after the issue is solved.

Thank you for your input. I have been giving him human-grade brewer yeast lately. If I top the supplement with collagen powder, will it be overdose? Or should I add both but in minimum dosage?

I don't have advice to give. But I am so impressed that you love your duck enough to take him to the vet and get expensive x-rays. Not everyone would. Best wishes with your boy!
If you don’t take the x-ray, how do you know if it’s fracture or some other issues after ruling out bumblefoot
