Hi everyone! I have a concern for my Silver Appleyard. She’s been moaning recently and it’s a bit odd. I have a video of her. My male Welsh Harlequin is sitting in front of her, he seems to be protective of this one more than his other girls his age.
Have y’all heard this from a duck before? She eats and drinks normally and walks fine. It’s been a consistent 98°F for a while, maybe it’s the heat?
They are 5wks old.

Her moans are coming with her breathing? maybe respiratory. I have never heard that sound before.
It seems to happen at the end of her exhale. Except she and one of her sisters I’ve noticed don’t do it unless they’re laying down. It’s pretty hot where I am so I’m hoping they’re just hot, but I’m going to be putting a drop of oregano oil in a gallon of water to see if that helps.

I'm not an expert on illnesses or anything but I've had ducks most of my life and that sounds normal to me. My ducks have made that same moaning sound before... they are always relaxed and happy when making that sound. It could be warm weather related too. I wouldn't worry :)
