Duck Molting

5 of my 6 ducks molted at the end of August. The one that hadn't is now finally starting to. She is a few months older than the others. My question is it's getting cold out now, 30's during the day and down to the teens at night, should I be worrying about her being too cold?

No. It has gotten even colder here and they do fine. You may see them looking a bit cold or huddled. Make sure you are feeding a good ration with 18-20% protein to help them grow in those feathers.

I have 3 runners molting right now as well and they seem perfectly fine right now. Some folks supplement with kitten food for the extra protein during a hard molt I think

I have a runt that was wayyyy behind, many people here can attest to that. He just got regular feathers and he’s 8 mths old! I gave him kitten food and it helped a ton..a great tip I got on here. 32%protein.

Thanks for the tip. She doesn't seem cold. I just get paranoid haha maybe I'll try the kitten food
