Duck nests?

quick question for all you more knowledgeable duck owners.
Do ducks make a nest if they are not broody?
I have a pekin thats on her second know week of laying but we live on 11 acres they free range, and they could go farther because we dont have a fence, so it could be longer
But anyway my duck has started laying on a little hole she dug under a tree, we tossed four eggs she had buried yesterday but she layed another in the exact spot today, before she was just laying anywhere. Ive not seen her on the nest but i havent seen her (or the 2 drakes that live with her) more than 8 foot away either.

Does it mean anything or is it normal duck behavior?

Normal behavior, why are you tossing eggs instead of eating them?

We didnt know how old the eggs were, and its pretty hot where we live, thanks for replying, and i know the ratio issues, its we had more hens(ducks) but my dog,broke her line,got lose and gave some a heart attack as far as we can tell, was no puncture wounds. Havent been able to get more, And the smaller drake has an attitude and doesnt let the bigger one near her, ive been keeping an eye, shes bigger than them both anyhow.
