I have always loved the idea of having ducks when i was little, i now have chickens and i am thinking of getting a few ducks (3-4) call ducklings. I live in good old New Hampshire and our winters can get really cold (well below zero) my MIL offered me her old plastic igloo dog house and i am wandering if that would be good enough for the winter time?
can ducks live with chickens (hens and a rooster)?
what if i get all males will they fight? what if i get only one female and the rest are males?
i have researched about duck care and i have that down but somethings they just didnt answer.

call ducks can fly, so unless in a covered pen they "could" fly away.

all boys wont fight much at all

all boys and 1 girl will be a disaster for the girl.

calls are generally kept as pairs and trios

call girls are LOUD, they live up to their name and out voice any large breed of duck

the igloo would be fine inside a fully predator proof enclosure. Bed it down opening away from the prevailing winds and with lots of straw. Ducks wear down coats so providing shelter from wind and rain/snow they stay pretty happy.

i was planning on making thier own pen and yes with top we have a hawk who lives near by. are they louder than hens? i have one hen who just talks all day long, she is noisier than my rooster who only crows a couple times a day.
