Hi, something is wrong with my 5 month old duck. She isn’t walking properly, although nothing appears to be physically wrong with either her legs or feet. She is a welsh harlequin x Indian runner. She hasn’t started laying yet - her sisters who are the same age have been laying for about a month now. I am on holiday at the moment and the person house sitting sent these videos through to me. Apparently she was walking a bit funny yesterday and this morning cannot seem to walk far at all and has spent the day in the enclosure. Our house sitter hasn’t been able to get close enough to grab her and pick her up and see how things look. I asked if she has been pooing but the house sitter hasn’t seen her do anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Our house sitter has her inside in a dog crate. She followed the post on backyard chickens and did an internal examination and said she couldn’t feel anything she went in about 1inch. She has got the duck in a warm water in the bath tub. The duck seems more relaxed and is drinking lots and swimming.

That's good...I would also get her back outside to walk around...I hope she now has passed her blockage?...

A little bit of white runny liquid came out of her while she was in the water. Only a tiny bit. Not sure what that means?? She seems more active now. We had some Tums so they have crushed the tablet and put it in with some water and duckweed for her and she I saw drinking it.

What feed is she on and do you provide oyster shell?

She is on Laucke Showbird breeder mp pellets: http://www.lauckemills.com.au/products/category/DBUARVIG-layer-breeder/5682

I don’t provide oyster shell but will start if it will prevent this from happening to my other ducks. None of my other laying ducks have ever had any problems.

She still hasn’t passed an egg but has had a little bit more of the milky white liquid - it’s a thinner consistency than a runny duck poo. She is still walking funny but doesn’t seem as stressed out anymore.
