Duck not waterproof

He looks terrible today. His feathers are stained yellow from oil.

How long since molt?

@Miss Lydia
I only see this when my scovy's get older like 7 and up and especially with my white ones. I just let it ride out till molt and it takes care of itself with new feathers. And the yellow waxing stuff really shows up on the white ones. But please don't pour hot water on your ducks oil gland that may injure it. As Buff goose guy said Muscovy's are as water proof as other domestic ducks so they don't go and stay in water continuously not like my Runners and Buffs who will actually take naps in their pools. And my drake doesn't bathe as often as my female scovy's do and i don't see him preening like they do either. I'd make sure they all have a good a quality of feed as you can give and poultry vitamins 1-2X a week especially during molt and winter. You could try adding some coconut oil to their feed to see if that helps. But other than that I am at a loss. If you've gone through the check list and checked them all off.https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/common-muscovy-health-problems

I don’t have a Muscovy but do have a Khaki Campbell, which is part Runner; his name is Chocolate. He injured his leg a few weeks ago and now it’s completely paralyzed; therefore, he cannot groom himself properly. How can I help him? He will hold in his poop until someone puts him in a pool, as to not get his bed (litter box, lined with pine pellets and a towel), needless to say it smells awful. When we place him in the water he begins to shiver. Like your runners, he would spend most of the day in his pool. Is it possible to help him groom and waterproof him? My hubby and I are so lost with him, and he mentioned earlier when we were blow drying Choc, that maybe we should have him euthanized? I didn’t respond.
