Duck or Drake? (Khaki Campbell)

Ok,

So when I go back out to get another duck what are the clues on an adult Khaki Campbell that tell me it's a drake? Darker head, Tail feather curl, and what else? I am going to get a sibling of this fellow so the markings are pretty close it seems. They are about 18 months old.

Thanks,

Scott

These are my two hens, fully grown.

Those are the hens. Inmature drakes look very much like a mature hen. Heres a pic of my drake. Before he got his adult plumage.

And this is him right after he got his adult plumage.

Hope this helps!

Also, you can take the duck, and if has a very loud quack, then its a lady, if it has a very low, raspy quack, then its a boy. Good luck! Oh and yes, males have curly tail feathers and females dont.

I'm kinda laughing about finding a way to stress out a duck enough to get a quack check done. The only time mine make any noise louder than a low chuckle is when they are really upset. Like when the dog pushes his way into the duck feed can during breakfast.

Do you have any other ducks besides the new one and the muscovies? Mallard derived ducks are quite a lot chattier than muscovies. Since you have a drake to compare the noise now, you'll be able to tell the difference. My pekin drakes were way noisier than my 'scovy hens. They honk when they're startled but it's nothing compared to the QUACK of the mallard derived breeds.

I have a 3 month old khaki with the same brown & dark head. Even though he has not developed the curly tail yet I think he/she is a drake but am not positive. Another reason I am lead to believe he is a drake is that he just mutters in the background (like most male :) rather than quacking.
The Pekin and half-Ruen quack so I'm positive they are ducks. The other Khaki I'm not sure about either.
The khaki is losing his feathers. Is that typical when it is December even if he is a drake? I don't want the poor guy to be cold.

Here's quacking at ya. Hope you all have a blessed Christmas Season.

I'm new to having ducklings. I purchased 6 khaki campbells about 2 weeks ago. Noticing some pictures, will drakes get orange legs and feet? All my babies have dark legs and feet right now.

So I am wondering how many girls and boys you ended up with.
