Duck pens & keeping ducks in the winter

I use rubber livestock bowls and refill three times a day in the winter...If they freeze up its easy to flip them over and knock all the ice out....With the Ducks constant playing in the water it usually never freezes up solid....I tried a heated bucket but it never worked out...I do not provide feed and water at night...

Lightbulb! There is always tons of bedding. composts produce heat. Wonder if stuffing old bedding in the tires would produce enough heat to keep the water from freezing?

Maybe! I like the way you think. Even if it at least took it longer to freeze it would help. I work so I need it to last around 8 hours before I can refill.
