Duck pic of the week.

Unfortunately we had to stop this game. No more pictures were coming in. Maybe it can be started again later.


O.K. Nifty said that he can not use other kinds of poultry in the pic of the week because he has to many chicken pictures. So I asked if we could have a private pic of the week. This is not the real official pic of the week. The staff will not be helping with this. Here is how it works. If you have a really nice picture of a duck, you pm the full size image and a thumb with a short description to me. I will post the thumb here as a possible pic of the week. When it is chosen I will post the full size image as the pic of the week. I would be interested in having a few people help me pick the pictures as well. They would be the judges. We will only except high quality pictures. Nothing dirty, poor lighting, etc. Their is a picture on display just temporarily to show you how it works.

For any who aren't sure, the pic is currently on houndit's personal page. I got there by clicking the user name and going to the page.

There may be a more direct route!

I think it would work best if you made an e-mail just for people to send pics and then post the pic of the week on your personal page. It would be cool if nifty could make it a sticky on the duck forum rather than putting it in the locked thread with the notable topics. I feel like if it's in there I'll forget about it?

It's too bad the chosen pic couldnt be put up at the top of this(Ducks) forum, that would be Ideal. But i think a sticky would work well too.

As for submissions, Would it be possible to create an online album for people to enter their pics into? then just wipe it clean for the next week after the Winning Picture is chosen.

Good ideas everyone. It will take a little while to figure out how to run everything smoothly. Once we work out all the details I would like to do a goose pic of the week turkey pic of the week etc. The reason it is on my page is because I thought it might be easier to find rather than searching for my post. If it was stickied it would be easier for people to find. It is strictly up to the staff whether or not it is worth stickying. I could have all the pictures emailed to me but that would make it hard for the judges to see them unless I forwarded all the pictures to them. On one of my personal pages I plan to make a thumb of all the pics of the week, kind of an archive of all previous choices. It is true that this post will get buried in discussion ad make it harder to find the pictures. It might be possible to start a separate thread just for submitting pictures. Let me think about it. Keep the good ideas coming!


Bleenie, how would I go about creating an online album? I am not very good with computers.
