What do kind of plants does everyone plant around their duck ponds? I want to put moss around mine. Do ducks just trample that to death? How do you prevent it from getting really muddy around your ponds?

I have smooth river rock and boulders around much if the pond area. The ducks are happy to eat plants... so I would not be happy to spend money on plants and see them get eaten. Several varieties of "weeds" are growing around the pond though. Tall grass seem to be doing really well right at the pond edge, some with their roots going right into the water.
I just took this photo tonight of a bullfrog on a small boulder by the pond. Notice all the grass I had manuever around to get the photo...

I put in fake grass. Every once in awhile I spray the poo off and it works great. No mud and they can't eat it. lol

I'm still working on the rocks around it. I'd like to add plants to the smaller pump pool for the natural filtration, but need to figure out how to keep them out of it. They will devour any plants right away.
