Duck Ponds

We have started a fair size duck pond and bought an insert and filter system for it that was not cheap. It really isn't keeping up with the waste like we would like it to. Any suggestions for a system or how to keep up with the waste?

Ducks poop a lot! Does your pond have a drain so that you could periodically remove and replace some of the 'bottom' water? Siphoning the bottom of the pond might help - or limiting the amount of times that the ducks are allowed on the pond. As you have learned, ponds for ducks can be tricky to maintain.

I'm off the grid so can't really have an electric pump or anything but we use Muck digester pellets and barley extract. Both are completely safe.

I have questions about ducks ponds too, I have an above ground pool that is about 12X24 feet and about 4 feet deep. we would like to give it to the ducks (there are 7 in total) I am wondering if anyone has converted a pool into a successful duck pond and if so please share your wisdom! We have discussed adding native plant life to the "pond" and possibly small minnows from the big pond in the back of our property to help poo clean up, we have also discussed pump systems and over flow systems. another possibility would be to set up grow beds around the pool to filter the water through (basically a giant aquaponics set up) and this would all be open in the summer and converted into a green house in the winter that would run from the side of the house and include the pool.
Any tips, information, and even "what not to do's" would be greatly appreciated!!!!

these are the 2 oldest ducks, named frankie and duck duck! they are really hoping to have a new pond as they are outgrowing their bathtub pool and now have 5 new flock mates to share it with
