Duck pool freezing in winter

Why did you buy plastic tanks over the steel/metal ones??

Thanks for your post by the way, it was very helpful!!!!!

Is it better to use metal over plastic? This is the pool I was thinking of picking up today. I thought the metal would freeze faster then plastic..??
400

I only have 4 ducks.

We first tried a metal stock tank and it began to rust. Also, without going into extreme detail we read that over time a metal tank could be harmful to the ducks when it begins to deteriorate. The plastic tanks have been great and will continue to use them.

We leave our spigot covers on at all times and remove the hose when not in use. It seems like a pain sometimes to do this but after replacing 2 spigots, it's a small price to pay.

I use these rubber tubs and cement mixing trays when it gets freezing they hold up well. and for drinking and washing faces I use horse heated pails that way I can fill them up in the house if need be.

no one is to big to play in the tubs.
