My four ducks have two pools, which they love, however they need to be cleaned just about every day. When I first started cleaning the pools I used a pump but my ducks got the water too dirty with sand and mud and it broke the pump. Now I just try to tip the pools but a lot of times the pools are heavy from the mud and sand and the pools are starting to break. Does anyone have a better idea on how to clean them? Another question. What does everyone use around their pools? I tried sand but it just washes away or gets into the pool. Any ideas on how to eliminate smell? Any ideas will be appreciated.

I used the big kiddie pool with slide. I put in a drain that I could get to from the outside. Still needed to be drained every 3-4 days in the summer.
Once drained, I stood it on its side, hosed it out, capped and refilled.

This was how I did that

Since then, I've built them a 1000 gallon raised pond that I clean out 2x a year.

You can also look into the big rubbermaid water troughs at tsc - they have drains built in. They are spendy, but durable.
